The D112 is a highly popular mic best known for Kick Drum applications in the studio or on stage. Recording or micing up Bass guitars is another application that the D112 handles with ease. AKG are well known for quality and value so you can rely on the D112 to handle your sound.
With a response tailored for bass guitar and bass drum pickup, its great for use both in the studio and on-stage. Response maintained down to 20 Hz.
The D112 Reimagined
The D112 has been redesigned for MKII, retaining all the great sonic characteristics that made it hugely popular, but with some minor adjustments, including a new integrated flexible mount that makes it even easier to perfectly place your mic where you need it.
The D112 MkII can handle more than 160 dB SPL without distortion. Its large diaphragm has a very low resonance frequency that delivers a solid and powerful response below 100 Hz. Its authoritative low end is complemented by a narrow-band presence boost at 4 kHz that punches through even dense mixes and loud stage volumes with forceful impact. One of the many reasons artists and sound engineers love the D112 MkII is that it requires no additional EQ to sound just right as soon as you bring up the fader. Further refining its performance, the D112 MkII features an integrated hum-compensation coil that keeps noise to an absolute minimum.
Here’s what AKG have to say about the D112 Bass Dynamic Microphone
The pop recording industry often prefers selected models of dynamic microphones for the pickup of closely spaced bass drums and bass guitar amplifiers. The reason is that the moving system of the dynamic can be designed to handle these high excursions with very high mechanical linearity. The AKG Model D112 is a descendent of AKG’s earlier D12 dynamic microphone, widely known for its ability to handle high level signals from bass drums and bass guitars in the studio. The microphone has been designed with a low resonance frequency and can handle very high transient signals with virtually unmeasurable distortion. High frequency response has been tailored to keep both bass drum and bass guitar clearly distinguishable in the mix. A built-in windscreen makes the D112 also suitable for high SPL instruments(trombone and tuba).

Drum
A drum microphone is specifically designed to capture the sound of drums and other percussion instruments with clarity and precision. These microphones are built to handle high sound pressure levels, as drums can produce loud and dynamic sounds. Drum microphones often have a rugged construction to withstand the physical impact of live performances or intense recording sessions. They typically come in dynamic or condenser types, with dynamic microphones being commonly used for miking kick drums and toms due to their durability, while condenser microphones are often used for overhead miking to capture the cymbals and the overall drum kit sound. Drum microphone kits often include a combination of mics tailored to different drum components for a well-rounded sound capture.
Dynamic
A dynamic microphone is a type of microphone that uses an electromagnetic principle to convert sound into an electrical signal. It consists of a diaphragm attached to a coil of wire placed within the magnetic field of a magnet. When sound waves hit the diaphragm, it causes the diaphragm to move, generating an electrical current in the coil, which is then sent as an audio signal. Dynamic microphones are known for their durability, ability to handle high sound pressure levels, and resistance to moisture, making them ideal for live sound situations and rugged environments. They are commonly used for vocals, instruments, and public speaking.

Live Microphones
A live microphone is a microphone designed for use in real-time sound amplification during events like concerts, public speaking, or theatre performances. These microphones are built for durability to withstand the physical demands of live events, often featuring cardioid or supercardioid patterns to reject unwanted noise from the sides or rear. They are typically used to capture clear and focused sound, ensuring high-quality audio for both the performer and the audience, and are chosen based on their ability to handle varying sound levels and environmental conditions.
Microphone
A microphone is a device that captures sound and converts it into an electrical signal. It works by using a diaphragm that vibrates in response to sound waves, which are then translated into electrical impulses. Microphones are used in a wide range of applications, from recording music and broadcasting to public speaking and live performances. They come in various types, including dynamic, condenser, and ribbon microphones, each suited for different recording environments and sound qualities.
