Description
The Sontronics STC-1 Small Diaphragm Microphone (BLACK) is currently retailing at GBP 164 and it is preorder. Available to be delivered to you by post direct (some charge may apply). The team at Mic Pro think that Sontronics nailed it with the Sontronics STC-1 Small Diaphragm Microphone (BLACK).
The Sontronics STC-1 pencil-style condenser mic is perfectly suited to recording instruments of any kind: guitars, strings, wind, brass, ethnic, drums or percussion.
This Pencil mic certainly has a unique look, with a particularly striking set of rear ports with a stripe and dots pattern. This is not just a funky design though, as the shape of those rear ports have been proven to better control soundwaves entering the rear of the capsule.
The STC-1 is ideal for spot-miking, as well as turned into a stereo spaced pair for miking choirs and other groups. The Mic boasts the sontronics signature super smooth high-frequency roll off, making it automatically sit in your mix better than most of the competition without having to eq!

A Super Flexible Pencil Mic
Thanks to its three-stage filter (0, -10, -20dB) and pad (0, 75, 150Hz) switches, the cardioid-pattern STC-1 is one of the most flexible microphones in its class and gives impressive, professional studio-quality results for an affordable price. It has been said that the STC-1 can easily compete with microphones that cost three, five or even ten times as much.
The STC-1 comes in a luxury, velvet-lined wooden box with a mounting clip and windshield, and it is compatible with the Sontronics OMNI and HYPER capsule, available separately. With the OMNI capsule fitted, STC-1 becomes the perfect room mic (whether used solo or in a pair) and with the HYPER capsule, users tell us STC-1 gives great results on hi-hat!
Choose either the STC-1 Silver in a brushed nickel finish or the STC-1 Black with a satin finish and gold lettering. Available as a single STC-1 mic or as an STC-1S stereo pair.

With the OMNI capsule fitted, the STC-1 becomes the perfect overhead or room mic, ideal for recording ensemble, drumkit, piano or group vocals. Diaphragm
The diaphragm in a microphone is a thin, flexible membrane that vibrates when sound waves hit it. It plays a crucial role in converting sound into an electrical signal. When sound waves strike the diaphragm, it moves in response to the variations in air pressure, and this movement is then translated into an electrical current by the microphone’s internal components. The size and material of the diaphragm can significantly impact the microphone’s sound characteristics, such as its sensitivity, frequency response, and overall sound quality. Larger diaphragms typically provide a fuller, warmer sound, while smaller diaphragms may offer a more detailed and accurate reproduction of high frequencies.
Microphone
A microphone is a device that captures sound and converts it into an electrical signal. It works by using a diaphragm that vibrates in response to sound waves, which are then translated into electrical impulses. Microphones are used in a wide range of applications, from recording music and broadcasting to public speaking and live performances. They come in various types, including dynamic, condenser, and ribbon microphones, each suited for different recording environments and sound qualities.
preorder
A preorder is an order placed for a product before it is officially released or available for purchase. Customers who preorder a product typically do so to secure the item in advance, often with the promise of receiving it as soon as it becomes available. Preordering is common for highly anticipated items, such as new technology releases, books, or limited-edition products, and may come with exclusive bonuses, discounts, or early access. This process allows businesses to gauge demand and ensure they have enough stock for the release.
