Condenser Microphones

Condenser microphones use a sensitive capsule design that can capture fine detail, fast transients and a broad frequency range. They are common choices for vocals, acoustic instruments, overheads, room work and studio recording, but their sensitivity also makes room sound and handling more noticeable. Compare large- or small-diaphragm construction, polar pattern, self-noise, maximum level, pad and high-pass options, and whether phantom power is required. The right condenser depends on the source, placement and acoustic environment, not simply on whether the microphone is marketed for studio use.
