Description

The Rode NTG4 Shotgun Mic is currently retailing at GBP 216 and it is out of stock. Available to be delivered to you by post direct (some charge may apply). The team at Mic Pro think that Rode nailed it with the Rode NTG4 Shotgun Mic.

The NTG4 series of shotgun mics offer the next generation in the evolution of professional shotgun mics. The NTG1, 2 & 3 series have been widely popular and appreciating this, Rode have paid attention to what people loved about these previous models and have worked on making these fantastic features even better

Clarity in Sound

The first and possibly most important new thing about the NTG4 series is that they have upgraded the capsule so that the mics have an even lower noise floor yet hgher overall sensitivity. This means that you can not only get a squeeky clean signal, the detail and clarity will be there right from the source. Professionals are always saying that you need to get a fantastic sound into the mic at the source rather than rely on trying to polish later, and with the NTG4 you have no excuse!

The NTG4 also has a number of digital switching options to help get the perfect take before it hits the recording equipment. The Customary -10dB pad attenuates your sound coming into the mic so that you can record any source, whether loud or quiet. You have the option of a high pass filter so that when you’re out on location you can get rid of the low end rumble inherent in many location sites without affecting your overall sound. The final tool in your kit is a high frequency boost that is great for getting better clarity in speech. It’s also fantastic at bringing back some of the high-end frequencies you enevitably lose when using a wind muff. Just switch it on and hear that high-end clarity coming right back.

If you find that you have a default setting as you’re always recording in similar environments, or doing multiple days on the same set, you will love the neat feature that ensures that every time you turn you mic off for the day, it retains your settings to get right on recording the next time you turn it on. No need to reconfigure your settings.

Mic

A mic is a common abbreviation for microphone, a device that converts sound waves into electrical signals for recording or amplification. Mics come in various types and designs—such as dynamic, condenser, ribbon, and lavalier—each suited to different applications, from live performances and studio recording to broadcasting and filmmaking. Choosing the right mic is essential for capturing clear, high-quality sound tailored to the specific environment and source.

RECORDING EQUIPMENT

Recording Equipment encompasses the essential tools used to capture, process, and produce audio in both professional and home studios. This includes microphones, audio interfaces, mixers, preamps, monitors, and recording software, all working together to achieve high-quality sound. Whether for music, podcasts, voiceovers, or film, recording equipment is key to transforming performances into polished, professional audio.

Shotgun

Shotgun Microphones are highly directional microphones designed to capture sound from a specific area while rejecting noise from the sides and rear. Featuring a long, narrow pickup pattern, they are ideal for film, television, and field recording where isolating audio from a distance is crucial. Commonly mounted on boom poles or cameras, shotgun mics are the go-to choice for dialogue and focused sound capture in noisy or outdoor environments.

Studio Microphones

Studio Microphones are designed for professional recording environments, delivering high-fidelity sound capture with exceptional detail and clarity. They are used for vocals, instruments, voiceovers, podcasts, and more, offering a wide range of pickup patterns and sensitivities to suit different recording needs. Studio mics often prioritise low noise, wide frequency response, and natural sound reproduction, making them a key tool in any recording setup.
